I then had an IBT knee injury (aka runners knee) which didn’t allow me to run at all. More on what happend and the IBT here.
Since then I am slowly increasing my running again but not half way or a third what I was doing before. But what do you do if you are not able to run but still want to stay in shape or just release your energy.
Here are a few things that you can do:
Walking; If you can’t run but can still walk, walk! With the IBT I am still able to walk normally but just the running is an issue. I still go for a walk during the weekend and you see things you don’t see when you run.
Gym it up; Ah yes, the gym. Some people hate it and some people nearly part of the furniture. I love going to the gym and I try to go at least 3 days a week. Obviously my workplace is flexible enough that I can do that but I could also go before or after work. A lot of gyms open very early in the morning and have great shower facilities so you can arrive at work fresh and clean.
Cleaning; (What?) Yes cleaning. I like having a clean house and it takes time to do this, so why not combine the two? Vacuuming for instance is a weekend thing, and you can start with that.
Thoroughly cleaning an apartment is a few hours of work and scrubbing the kitchen, bathroom and other rooms that need scrubbing will make you burn some calories. And the best part, you only have to do it once a week if you really hate it
Moving; I’m not saying you have to move apartment but if you know a mate that is moving out then why not offer to help. Gives you some time and calories to kill and you can ask him to help you when you do decide to move out. Nothing better than people who owe you a favor or two.
Fixing thing; Another one from the DIY category. If you can’t run or exercise the way you want perhaps this is the perfect time to work on that “To Do” list. Fixing the gutter / poarch / car / roof / cabinet etc. are all very legitimate reasons and will also give you a satisfied feeling afterwards.
Sex; No further comments needed….
These are just a few things you can do if you are unable to workout, in this case running. I think there are plenty more so don’t be scared to give a few ideas in the comments.
